An intelligent secondary use of disused hardware makes ecological sense. This means that fewer new devices have to be produced, which directly saves raw materials and energy. Instead of scrapping laptops that are no longer in use, e.telligent has for the first time passed on some of its old devices to "Computerspende Regensburg". The retired laptops are still fully functional, but no longer meet e.telligent's current requirements - for example, because some security updates are no longer supported - in any case, much too good to end up in the trash.
Our employee Andreas therefore made contact with "Computerspende Regensburg", who were very happy about the donation. The volunteers there are now refurbishing the laptops and passing them on to those in need or non-profit organizations. Beforehand, the IT experts from INSTART consult's digital shared service provider erased all data and removed the hard drive to remove all sensitive company data.
In the future, e.telligent will continue to aim to donate reusable hardware instead of throwing it away in order to save resources and avoid electronic waste.
